I have heard about this sort of thing before.

A guy has a pocket Bible and when he gets shot the Bible takes the blow and he survives.

It happened to a soldier in Iraq while he was helping to retrieve a tank earlier this month.

The Bible was in the shirt pocket of the 22-year old.

Whether it was the Bible or the bullet-proof plate that the boy was wearing, and which was it that protected him the most is irrelevant.

The Pfc is giving credit to the prayers of his friends back home for his protection and recovery.

He plans to stay in Iraq and finish out his tour.

It’s good to see the Bible serving some good.

Juanita Bynum and Thomas Weeks III would do well to read it and hope it would protect them from evil as well…

‘Can’t buy me love’ is the name of an old Beatles’ song.

‘Can’t buy me a stripper’, either is what a knucklehead in Nashville, TN will be singing after his sentencing….especially since he tried to use fake $100 bills, 14 of them, that he had made by copying them off the Internet.

Strippers at Deja Vu in Nashville (had they had this kind of experience before, I wonder) became suspicious of the bills after the counterfeiter had used six of the bills.

Strippers may not have any clothes on, but it doesn’t mean they don’t have any sense left, eh?

The guy made up a story but U.S. Secret Service agents weren’t fooled.

They watched the guy spend the money on the strippers, or was it they watched the strippers and then the guy…okay, not important.

The agents went to the man’s house. A family member told the agents there was an image of $100 on a computer there.

There’s truth to police claims that catching bad guys is sometimes easy just because the crooks aren’t usually the brightest bulb in the lamp stand.

Craigslist is indeed powerful.

While living in California, I sold a Steinway piano that I had on consignment at a music store in Houston, TX to a guy in Australia!

Yup…you can do lots of things via Craigslist…include try to pay your mortgage by offering yourself for sex and end up in jail.

A woman who was recently divorced had to find a way to pay the mortgage….so she offered her services on Craigslist.

Even though remarried, and with a kid in the house, unbeknownst to her new husband and hopefully the child, she continued to advertise herself and conduct business.

When police got wind of the operation they set up a sting.

The first time she was caught she ended up in jail. After bailing herself out she went back to work.

Stung again she faces another court date. The charges are operating an escort service without a license.

In both investigations she offered sex for payment.

She is probably hoping the judge is a male and she can do some plea bargaining with him as well.

So, where was her husband when all this was going on?

The 12-year old boy’s mother paid for it without knowing…she says.

The boy’s aunt knew what she was doing.

The kid learned that if he acted up, he could get something else up.

Aunt Linda went to the bar where the 12-year old’s mother worked and asked for $80.

Mom gave her the money figuring the boy would take grandma and the money and blow it at Wal-Mart or wherever. Wherever is right.

Aunt Linda took her nephew to separate locations for …um…sexual activity.

The boy confirmed that his aunt and done him the favor, er, bought him the favors as a ‘way to appease’ him.

Mom, “I didn’t know that she would take him to those type of women. I didn’t think they existed in this area. I thought you had to go to Pittsburgh for that.”

Let’s see, mom didn’t know what kind of person her sister Linda was, she didn’t know what the $80 was for, she didn’t know there were prostitutes outside of Pittsburgh and now she doesn’t know why she has been arrested and charged, too?

Go figure.

The 54-year old Playboy magazine continues to lose money.

It figures, who buys the rag when all, more, too much, grossly too much can be seen online for free?

So, what do Hugh and his girls have in mind?

Playboy University or Playboy U…a social networking site dedicated solely to college students (yeah, right) along the lines of Facebook but showing much more than the face I presume.

Playboy U, being launched just in time for the beginning of the new school year has life lessons in mind as well – “We’re looking at this as a way to introduce and escort someone through their adult life,” says a Playboy VP. 

“This is one brand that is relevant to 18 through 81-year-olds,” he drones.

Uh…I thought they were targeting college students.

Playboy U is hoping that collegians who have warmed up to parties, promotional events and pictorials in the past, will ‘come to school’ and learn. 

What next…Hustler U? Gambling U?

In a society where people are free to do anything…some people will do anything…including Playboy. 

What a great story.

It reminds me of the fellow who was left on Mount Everest for dead. Nearly frozen but very much alive, the fellow said to himself, “I realized that the calvary wasn’t coming. And, that if I wanted to be saved I had to do it myself.” He got up, and walked down the mountain. He lost his nose, a few fingers and such, but he survived.

Two brothers in China were given up for dead after 130 hours underground after an illegal tunnel they were working in collapsed.

The miners families burned ‘ghost money’ at the entrance of the mine.

Tell ya, when the Chinese are burning money…hope is indeed lost.

The brothers, however, did not give up.

From inside they built their own tunnel towards the entrance.

After 130 hours underground, the two finally saw light.

Both brothers, in their 40s, lost weight and had kidney damage because of going days without food and water.

But, dang it, they are ALIVE! And, it wasn’t the calvary that saved them, either.

Lesson – If are in extreme need of saving/rescuing, you’d better do it yourself.
