Venezuela Bans Stupid Names, Stuck with Stupid People
Venezuela’s National Electoral Council has laid out a draft that would let authorities turn down names that parents want for their children - Edigaith, Mileidy, Leomar, Superman…
Superman?
Yup, there are two people registered to vote in Caracas with the name Superman.
Registry authorities are permitted to refuse names that would expose children to ridicule….
But, can they teach the parents how to spell? Maikel…Jhonny, Jesshy and so on….
The law would never work in the United States, where I swear (if I were the swearing kind) that some parents pride themselves on coming up with names that have never been seen or heard of….
Alfredo named his kid Phetacheeney…
Bones named their kid Barbq…
The Venezuelans may be able to prevent most stupid names from being applied, but they will NEVER rid the world of stupid parents.
