A drunk took his stupidity when he went to hire counsel.

A man paid $18,000 in legal fees to hire a fake lawyer.

The jury deliberated just eight minutes before convicting the drunk.

When screening for potential jurors –

“If you were in a forest and you came to a clearing, and you saw a house, could you describe the house?”

Another juror was asked if consumed alcohol like the frat brothers in ‘Animal House.’

And yet another juror was asked if they liked animals.

The prosecutor decided to check on the phoney defense counsel.

Counsel is now in need of counsel…he faces charges of first-degree larceny and forgery,

Love Hotels Looking for Investors

Japan’s love hotels are looking for investors.

One chain, Japan Leisure Hotels is worth some $43.68 million and wants to lure more capital with an IPO in London.

Promises of an 8% dividend and fast growth are the pitches.

Japan has some 25,000 love hotels…some letting out rooms for short stays for, um, busy people…yeah, busy people.

Japan Leisure Hotels says the industry is shielded from economic cycles and sweet returns are promised because of high room turnover.

Gosh…I hope they wash the sheets each time.

JLH wants to expand its assets to $625 million in the next five years.

Revenue per room…Y16,700/day = $150ish/day.

More rooms….more activity…more income. Seems reasonable to me.

I wonder if they will let me check out my investment from time to time.

Rapist Due to Pay Back Damages

Nov 4th, 2007 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

A rapist got off without paying damages because the lawyers told the victim it would be useless to try to get them.

That was in 1988.

In 2004, the rapist, who had been jailed for life, bought a lotto ticket on a day release and WON! $12 million.

Now the woman, who was 59 at the time, wants the court to order him to pay damages from a crime committed almost 20 years ago.

The normal limit – six years.

The Law Lords are considering it.

So, what was the guy with a life sentence doing out anyway?

And he raped a 59-year old?

And, one more thing, what is a guy in jail for life going to do with $12 million in winnings?

And, one more one more thing…what’s with the lawyers telling the woman it wasn’t worth trying to get damages?
