Ugly Contest – the Losers
There’s an ugly contest going on in Shenzhen, China’s first free economic zone experiment, which sits across the river from Hong Kong.![]()
Capitalism means marketing. Marketing means doing something, anything to drum up interest.
Enter the ugly contest.
Just for registering, a person can get Y100 ($13.6). And the champion, chief ugly, will get Y10,000 = about one year’s annual income for a migrant worker.
Some say it’s a marketing trick while others say the event is capitalizing on the pain of others.
Yup, that would be capitalism at its best, wouldn’t it?
These girls…don’t have a chance of winning the ugly contest, do they?
