John F. Kennedy – Words of Wisdom

Some of the best lessons I have learned in life come from people I never met.

I would like to share some of the ‘words of wisdom’ that I have picked up over the years.

John F. Kennedy said:

The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.

(When things are good are when we should take action, not when they are bad. We do not run from bad situations but move toward better ones…)

A child miseducated is a child lost.john.kennedy.jpg

(This is why I am a teacher.)

Let us never negotiate out of fear but let us never fear to negotiate.

(We should fight only when words fail us.)

Ex-student Freaks After Giving Birth

Jan 30th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

An ex-student told police she freaked out after giving birth to a baby girl in the toilet of her dorm room.

She thought the baby was dead when she put it in a trash bag and dumped it. Later when the baby was found, the newborn was dead.

I can’t imagine. We just welcomed a new baby girl into our family not two days ago.

What to do in the event of freaking out to be included in future college orientation classes maybe?

Restless Leg Syndrome Leads to Flashing

Jan 30th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

Days after first being arrested for helping himself in a car alongside two teenage girls, a 52-year old geezer was released only to be arrested again for exposing himself.

The second arrest had a reason – side effects from drugs he was taking for restless leg syndrome.

Which leg was restless, I wonder?

The third tiny leg in the middle perhaps?

Andrew Jackson said:

One man with courage makes a majority.

(One man with courage in the face of a crowd is truly unique as well.)

Peace, above all things, is to be desired, but blood must sometimes be spilled to obtain it on equitable and lasting terms.

(Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers…not the peacekeepers.) andrew.jackson.jpeg

You must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessings.

(nothing is free…nothing.)

Confucius said:

To know what is right and not to do it is the worst cowardice.

(uh…ouch!)

When prosperity comes, do not use all of it.confucius.png

(Someone should tell that to all the knotheads running around here in Silicon Valley.)

He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.

Being too good is apt to be uninteresting.

(I’ll do my best to be uninteresting.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

(or would you rather stay in the house?)

If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

(This one cracked me up…and I have tried a few times, too.)

I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it.

(It works! Try it on your children, your friends, your employees…)

The buck stops here.

(Take responsibility.)

Sex in Public Bathrooms Should be Private

Jan 20th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

The ACLU is trying to defend Sen. Larry Craig, the guy who was caught having gay sex in a bathroom in MN.

The ACLU is saying there was a “Minnesota Supreme Court ruling 38 years ago that found that people who have sex in closed stalls in public restrooms ‘have a reasonable expectation of privacy.’”

Sooo….”the state cannot prove Craig was inviting an undercover officer to have sex in public, the ACLU wrote.”

“The government cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Senator Craig was inviting the undercover officer to engage in anything other than sexual intimacy that would not have called attention to itself in a closed stall in the public restroom,” the ACLU wrote in its brief.

“Whatcha doin’ in that stall over there?”

“None of you #%^# business!”

MN was wrong 38 years ago and they are wrong now to allow people to go at in a public bathroom stall.

Taking a Snake for a Walk

Jan 19th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

A man was arrested for taking his 14-foot pet python for a walk.

The python was wrapped around his body.

A passing SPCA officer, called him in.

Who’d a thought that an SPCA officer would be out and about while you walk your snake?

The man is in jail on charges of animal cruelty and failure to protect the public against dangerous wildlife.

In the meantime, the snake must take its walks alone.

Benjamin Franklin said:

Wise men don’t need advice. Fools won’t take it.

(I tried long ago to accept the wisdom of people I respected so I wouldn’t have to learn life’s lessons over again, and instead learn some new lessons of my own.) ben.franklin.jpg

Bewareof little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

(My wife is still trying to teach me this.)

The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart.

(sometimes we need to listen to our heart)

He was so learned that he could name a horse in nine languages; so ignorant that he bought a cow to ride on.

(hah! always learning but never knowing the truth is how the Bible puts it.)

If a man could have his wishes, he would double his troubles.

(What do you wish for?)

…if she had not been drinking

Jan 18th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized | no comment »

A couple, she 59 and he 41, married (not to her), were kicked off a plane because she was pleasing him way too much on the plane.

Okay, she was giving him oral sex AFTER they had been warned to stop, stopped and started up again.

The two Russians who worked for a tea and coffee company were on a flight from Brazil to London after trying out some coffee beans.

She, he, wanted to try something out on the plane.

The were fined 500 pounds each.

The representative for the 59-year old woman,

“She does not normally drink and was unaware that it would have a bigger effect on her on a flight. She is very embarrassed by the whole incident and said it would never have happened if she had not been drinking.”

More proof why we never hear, “Gee, I wish I had been drinking at the time.”

Some of the best lessons I have learned in life come from people I never met.

Andrew Carnegie said:

As I grow older I pay less attention to what men say, I just watch what they do.

(Gives new meaning to the do as I say, not as I do I used to hear.) andrew.carnegie.jpg

Concentration: put all of your eggs in one basket, and watch that basket.

(So much for multi-tasking)

The average person puts only 25% of his energy into his work. The world takes off its hat to those who put in more than 50% of their capacity, and stands on its head for those few a far between souls who devote 100%.

(How much effort do you give to your work?)
