Red Cross Distributes Blood Infected with Hepatitis B
I used to give blood…about every other week when I lived in Japan…they took out the liquid part and put the blood cells back in…kinda neat, it was.
And they gave me snacks to munch on while they did it.
Glad I wasn’t in Korea giving it or needing it.
The Red Cross in Korea distributed hepatitis B-infected blood to hospitals that have resulted in at least one person becoming infected and maybe as many as four deaths.
13 packs of blood collected from five people with HBV were swapped mistakenly with blood of people negative to HBV.
What’s more…it took the agency 3 years to figure out what went wrong.
Still feel safe going to the hospital?
