Beijing Launches Cartoon Police on Web Portals

Starting today, cartoon police characters will appear every 30 minutes on 13 of China’s top portals.

While surfing the Net, users will see little animated characters walking, biking or driving across their screen to remind them that big brother is indeed watching.

China diligently patrols the Internet for politically or morally threatening material – nudity, profanity, illegal gambling, pirated music, books and films.

The cartoon characters will be both male and female….meaning, yes, cartoon characters have a gender.

If the users find themselves on a site the coppers need to know about, they can click on the virtual patroller and be redirected.

China has 137 million people online….about 37 million of them work for big brother.

lesson learned -freedom of speech is NOT something enjoyed and abused in every country.
